Family chores and stars

The week is a simple grid: chores as rows, days as columns. Marking one done is a single tap. Completed work earns stars, and stars buy rewards the family has agreed on together.

What the app does

Kotityöt (Finnish for “household chores”) is built for one family's everyday life, not for business use. It asks for no email address and creates no accounts: the family shares one password and pairs their devices with a join code.

The week at a glance

Chores as rows, seven days as columns. One tap marks a chore done, and the cell immediately shows who did it and how many times.

Stars and rewards

Every chore is worth 1–5 stars. On theme days the value is multiplied. Stars are spent on rewards the family has defined itself.

Streaks and badges

Consecutive days build a streak, and 16 achievements across four categories unlock along the way. The weekly goal is shared by the whole family.

Works without a connection

The week is shown from the last fetched data, and completions are queued. They are sent automatically when the connection returns — and the same completion is never recorded twice.

Statistics

Weekly progress, the most frequent chores and the full history. The view can be scoped to your own completions or the whole family.

No ads, no tracking

The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party components. Data lives in the family's own database in the EU.

What the app requires

  • The family's own server. Kotityöt is not a cloud service you sign up for. The app talks to the family's own installation.
  • A join code. A device is paired to the family with a code. Without it the app shows nothing.
  • An iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
